Role of the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)
The Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) meets three to four times per year. Meetings commence at 6 p.m. and are held virtually using Microsoft Teams.
The Parent Involvement Committee provides parents a direct link to the Director and Trustees of District School Board Ontario North East to provide advice and to support parent engagement. Parent Involvement Committee Mandate
- to support and enhance parent engagement to improve student achievement and well-being and to provide related information and advice to the Board
- to communicate and provide support to DSB1’s School Councils
- to work with school councils and parents/guardians to help parents/guardians of DSB1 students support their children’s learning at home and at school
- to identify and reduce barriers to parent engagement
- to help ensure that schools create a welcoming environment for parents
- to ensure the Committee’s deliberations and recommendations are undertaken with integrity and in compliance with its obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code and related policies
